Learning Resources

Interesting websites and links that will make you ponder and hopefully get excited about horse-friendly training. However, read and watch with your critical thinking cap on, not everything works for any horse and every rider.

There is no particular order here, I consider all resources below of great value and I would really recommend them to be studies by all riders.

Clicking on images below should take you to the websites or places to purchase in case of books. I will continue to add to the materials below so do pop in and check for new additions from time to time 🙂 If you know of a great resource and would like to see it on here please leave a comment and I will happily consider adding it. Please let me know if you found the current resources helpful.

The first website: Equine Studies Institute & the pdf titled Lessons From Woody is a resource where I would start my learning about horse training if I could go back in time 20 years:

Many very thought provoking articles and videos here…
This book has varied reviews. If you take it as an interesting autobiography it can be inspirational and eye-opening. It is not a "how-to" book.

In my mind – all books by Sally Swift are one of the best books for riding instructors. She is one of very few who really taught the rider…
Not an easy read and not for beginner riders. Intellectual dressage challenge :)
